Job Overview

Our client is looking for a Construction Estimator (work from anywhere) to produce takeoffs and estimates and to drive the bid process from plans to submitted proposal. This is a performance-based role to start, with a clear path to full-time as your output and our client's pipeline grow. Our client needs someone organized and proactive who communicates clearly and follows up relentlessly — bids are won in the follow-up.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm with 1 hour unpaid break | Central Standard Time

How We Work — The Weekly Bid Cycle

Here is the core workflow you'll own each week:

• Weekly board review: Together with the team, you will review the PlanHub job board and select the opportunities worth bidding.
• Download plans: For each selected job, download the plans and specs provided.
• Build the takeoff: Create an accurate quantity takeoff in Houzz Pro.
• Create the estimate: Turn the takeoff into a priced estimate using our client's templates and pricing — for the whole job or for the carpentry scope only, depending on the bid.
• Reach out to the POC: Contact the point of contact who provided the plans to confirm scope, intent, and bid requirements.
• Submit RFIs and RFQs: Send Requests for Information and Requests for Quote to fill gaps and get the best possible insight before pricing — clarify unclear scope, missing details, and sub/supplier pricing.
• Review for accuracy: QA your own takeoff and estimate before it goes out. Catch errors, missing scope, and bad assumptions — accuracy is non-negotiable.
• Follow up: Track every submitted proposal and follow up consistently until a decision is made. Nothing goes cold.

Output Expectation: Minimum 3 takeoffs/estimates per week, scaling with project size — more on small/carpentry scopes, fewer on large turnkey buildouts. As you ramp and the role moves to full-time, output increases accordingly. This is a performance-based role: your throughput, accuracy, and follow-through drive both your hours and your pay.

What You'll Be Bidding

• Retail, restaurant, and hospitality buildouts — our client's specialty, delivered turnkey.
• Residential — turnkey when it fits.
• Whole-job scopes and carpentry-only scopes — you'll do both.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate quantity takeoffs in Houzz Pro from downloaded plans and specs.
• Build priced estimates (full scope or carpentry-only) and review every one for accuracy before submission.
• Communicate directly with the POC on each job — confirm scope and bid requirements.
• Write and submit RFIs and RFQs to clarify scope and gather sub/supplier pricing.
• Maintain organized records of every opportunity, bid, and follow-up.
• Follow up on submitted proposals until a decision is reached.
• Join the weekly PlanHub board review and flag the best-fit opportunities.

Requirements

• Construction estimating experience
• Strong follow-up and organizational skills
• Responsive on WhatsApp
• Solid construction math and measurement skills, including comfort converting between imperial (feet/inches — used on U.S. plans) and metric units. 
• Comfortable learning Houzz Pro takeoff and estimating tools quickly (training provided on templates and pricing).
