Construction Estimator
Job Overview
They are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator with strong BuildExec expertise to support residential construction estimating activities. This role will focus on preparing quantity takeoffs, obtaining subcontractor pricing, and compiling detailed project estimates for residential developments. The successful candidate will work closely with the principal to produce near-complete estimates that support project feasibility and delivery planning.
Client Overview
Our client is a residential construction company specializing in new home builds, knock-down rebuilds, and townhouse developments. Their team is committed to delivering accurate project planning, quality construction outcomes, and efficient project execution across a range of residential developments.
Schedule

Monday - Friday, flexible during Melbourne business hours (20 work hours per week)
Responsibilities
Estimating & Costing
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from architectural and construction plans
- Input takeoff data and project information into BuildExec
- Build, update, and maintain estimate templates within BuildExec
- Prepare comprehensive project estimates for residential construction projects
- Compile labour, material, and subcontractor costs into accurate estimate packages
Trade & Supplier Coordination
- Contact preferred subcontractors and trades via email to obtain pricing quotations
- Follow up on outstanding quotations and pricing requests
- Compare and evaluate received trade pricing for estimate inclusion
- Maintain organized records of supplier and subcontractor pricing information
Project Support
- Compile estimates to approximately 90% completion for principal review
- Identify potential discrepancies, omissions, or pricing concerns
- Provide regular progress updates on assigned estimating tasks
- Assist in maintaining consistency across estimating templates and workflows
Requirements
- Demonstrated hands-on experience using BuildExec for construction estimating - non-negotiable.
- Minimum 2 years of residential construction estimating experience, including new builds, knock-down rebuilds, or townhouse developments
- Strong understanding of Melbourne residential construction pricing, materials, and trades
- Excellent numerical accuracy, analytical and problem-solving skills
