Job Overview
Our client is looking for a detail-oriented Xero Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day bookkeeping functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and compliance reporting. This role plays a key part in ensuring financial records are accurate, current, and fully compliant with Australian accounting and tax standards. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and confident working independently within Xero while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM AEST/AEDT, (20 work hours per week)
Responsibilities
- Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and maintained in Xero
- Reconcile bank feeds on a weekly or daily basis to ensure real-time accuracy of financial data and cash flow visibility
- Prepare and lodge BAS statements and GST returns in compliance with Australian tax regulations
- Process payroll and ensure timely payment of weekly superannuation contributions from the start of the new financial year
- Prepare and manage payroll tax obligations accurately and within required deadlines
- Reconcile larger incoming payments promptly to support accurate financial reporting and decision-making
- Liaise with internal admin staff during working hours to obtain necessary financial documentation
- Coordinate with external accountants during reporting periods and year-end processes
Requirements
- Proven bookkeeping experience with Australian businesses and strong understanding of Australian tax compliance requirements
- Xero certification with advanced proficiency in managing full bookkeeping functions within the platform
- Hands-on experience with BAS lodgements, GST reporting, payroll processing, and superannuation compliance
- Strong attention to detail with high levels of accuracy in financial data entry and reconciliation
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a structured remote setup
- Strong organizational and time management skills, especially within fixed working hours
