Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the design and assessment of bridges and/or structures. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background across multiple materials and will be capable of delivering a wide range of projects, from temporary works design to permanent structural solutions.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:00 (UK Time); Includes a 30-minute paid break
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake structural design and assessment of bridge and building structures.
- Design structural elements in steel, reinforced concrete, and timber in accordance with relevant standards.
- Deliver designs across a varied project portfolio, including:
- Temporary works (e.g. propping, shoring, and stabilisation schemes)
- Permanent works, such as steel portal frame buildings
- Reinforced concrete foundations and substructures
- Design and detailing of:
- Structural connections
- Steelwork repairs and strengthening schemes
- Foundation systems (e.g. pads, strips)
- Prepare design calculations and technical reports.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, safety requirements, and project specifications.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in structural and/or bridge engineering design.
- Proven experience in:
- Steel, reinforced concrete, and timber design
- Foundation design and detailing
- Steelwork connections and repair schemes
- Experience delivering both temporary and permanent works designs.
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Eurocodes and associated UK National Annexes
- Relevant British Standards
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as:
- Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis (or equivalent packages such as STAAD, Tekla Structural Designer)
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver to deadlines.
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status desirable, but not essential.
- Candidates working towards chartership are encouraged to apply.

- Experience in railway or highway structures.
- Knowledge of inspection, assessment, and asset management practices.
- Familiarity with construction methodologies and site constraints.
