Job Overview

As a Medical Billing and Patient Coordination Specialist, you will manage the end-to-end patient experience from initial contact through financial clearance. You will handle inbound communications, secure accurate insurance verifications, and execute precise medical billing workflows within the client’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. This is a fully remote independent contractor position requiring high autonomy and operational accuracy.

Work Schedule: 40hrs per week, Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM with 1 hour unpaid break | Pacific Time

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Intake & Coordination: Answer incoming calls and emails from prospective patients, manage appointment scheduling, and provide clear next-step instructions.
  • Insurance Verification: Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage parameters prior to scheduled appointments.
  • Billing Operations: Prepare, review, and submit insurance claims through the EHR platform following established clinical billing workflows.
  • Accounts Receivable Support: Track unpaid or denied claims, conduct necessary follow-ups with insurance payers, and resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain precise, up-to-date patient records, payment histories, and administrative documentation in strict accordance with healthcare privacy practices.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of direct experience in medical billing, healthcare administration, or patient-facing medical coordination.
  • Technical Proficiency: Documented experience navigating EHR/EMR platforms and specialized medical billing software.
  • Workflow Knowledge: Solid understanding of medical billing lifecycles, insurance claim processing, and verification procedures.
  • Communication Skills: Proven track record of handling high-volume patient phone calls and professional email correspondence with empathy and clarity.
  • Operational Setup: A reliable internet connection and a quiet, secure dedicated workspace suitable for handling confidential healthcare data.
