Role Overview: Bookkeeper

Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support a real estate and construction business with historical bank reconciliations, ongoing bookkeeping, and financial record maintenance. This role involves managing reconciliations within Buildium, handling AP/AR tasks, and ensuring accurate, audit-ready financials across multiple entities. The ideal candidate has strong bookkeeping experience, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment. This is a full-time role with flexible scheduling and collaboration during U.S. business hours. 

Schedule: Mon - Friday Flexible anytime from 6am-8pm PST 

Responsibilities

  • Perform historical bank reconciliations across four bank accounts dating back to June 2022
  • Manage ongoing monthly reconciliations and transaction recording within Buildium property management software
  • Ensure all financial records are accurate, balanced, and up to date across multiple business entities
  • Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and check processing within the property management system
  • Provide additional bookkeeping support for a secondary construction business as needed
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records across all accounts
  • Communicate progress and flag issues or discrepancies via email or messaging platforms

Requirements

  • Proven experience in bank reconciliation and bookkeeping cleanup projects
  • Experience with property management or accounting software (Buildium preferred)
  • Strong understanding of U.S. accounting standards and bookkeeping practices
  • High attention to detail and strong accuracy in financial data handling
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong written communication skills for remote/asynchronous collaboration
  • Reliable, organized, and deadline-driven

Scope

  • Full-time role (40 hours per week) with flexible scheduling
  • Minimum 1-hour overlap with U.S. Pacific or Mountain Time business hours
  • Support bookkeeping for both a real estate business and a small construction company
  • Initial focus on historical reconciliation and cleanup (June 2022 onwards), transitioning into ongoing monthly bookkeeping
  • Maintain structured, accurate, and audit-ready financial records across multiple entities
