Senior Accountant - US GAAP (QuickBooks Online)
Overview
We are hiring a Staff or Senior Accountant to own day-to-day accounting operations and support month-end close activities while helping strengthen and scale our finance infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both the technical rigor of accounting and the operational problem-solving involved in improving systems and workflows. You will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records while helping optimize accounting operations as the company continues to grow. The ideal candidate has strong experience supporting US-based companies, is highly detail-oriented, and is comfortable operating in fast-paced, evolving environments.
Schedule
- US Pacific Time | Monday–Friday Tentatively 9 AM–5 PM PST, with an unpaid lunch break
Responsibilities
Accounting Operations & Month-End Close
- Own day-to-day bookkeeping activities across AP and AR functions
- Manage vendor onboarding, bill processing, payment runs, and expense management workflows
- Process and reconcile credit card transactions and expense reports
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and account reconciliations
- Support and execute month-end close procedures accurately and on schedule
- Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
Payroll Administration
- Administer payroll processes and maintain payroll records
- Ensure accurate payroll calculations, deductions, and tax withholdings
- Work with payroll systems such as Gusto, ADP, Paylocity, or similar platforms
- Support payroll audits and reporting requirements
Financial Systems & Process Improvement
- Maintain and optimize QuickBooks Online as the primary accounting system
- Manage integrations between QuickBooks, banking systems, payroll providers, and expense management platforms
- Help improve accounting workflows, close processes, reconciliation procedures, and internal controls
- Document accounting procedures and SOPs to support operational scalability
Compliance & Cross-Functional Support
- Support audits, tax filings, and compliance activities in coordination with external advisors
- Partner with operations, medical, product, engineering, and care teams on financial requests and vendor-related matters
- Assist with ad hoc financial reporting, reconciliations, and analysis as needed
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
- Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience
- Experience supporting or working with US-based companies
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and the full accounting cycle
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online
- Experience with payroll systems such as: Gusto (preferred), ADP, Paylocity or similar payroll platforms
- Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills
- Excellent written communication and documentation abilities
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Nice to Have
- CPA certification (US CPA or local CPA certifications welcomed but not required)
- Public accounting firm experience
- Experience supporting or completing audit cycles
- Experience in startup, healthcare, or high-growth environments
- Experience building or improving accounting processes and workflows
