CAD Designer

Job Overview:

As a CAD Designer, you will play a key role in designing and validating modular water treatment systems and industrial product prototypes. You will create detailed 3D models, prepare manufacturing-ready files, and support rapid prototyping initiatives through 3D printing and technical rendering. This role is ideal for a CAD expert who thrives on innovative products, fast development cycles, and real-world engineering challenges. Collaborating closely with our internal team, you will iterate designs quickly, validate component functionality, and deliver technical files optimized for production.

Schedule:

  • Part-time (20 hours per week) with flexible scheduling during Mountain Daylight Time (MDT)

Responsibilities:

3D Modeling & Technical Design

  • Create detailed 3D models and renders of modular water treatment systems
  • Develop technical drawings and assemblies for industrial components and prototype products
  • Validate and test different angles and configurations of components, including spiral flex parts
  • Focus on rapid prototyping, product validation, and technical design support

Prototype Development & 3D Printing

  • Prepare and optimize CAD files for 3D printing and prototype validation
  • Support rapid prototyping workflows to accelerate testing and iteration cycles
  • Modify and refine designs based on prototype feedback and testing outcomes

Manufacturing File Preparation

  • Generate editable technical files including STEP files and other manufacturing-ready outputs
  • Ensure all files meet production and fabrication requirements
  • Maintain organized version control and documentation for all design iterations
  • Deliver high-quality editable technical files suitable for manufacturing and production

Collaboration & Project Execution

  • Collaborate with the product development team on new inventions and industrial product concepts
  • Execute design phases efficiently to meet tight project timelines and prototyping deadlines
  • Support ongoing product improvement and innovation initiatives
  • Collaborate directly with the client and project stakeholders throughout development cycles

Engagement Scope

  • Continuous month-to-month engagement with ongoing project opportunities

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or Fusion 360
  • Proven experience in 3D rendering, technical modeling, and industrial design workflows
  • Familiarity with 3D printing preparation and manufacturing requirements
  • Strong understanding of mechanical assemblies and modular system design
  • Ability to generate production-ready editable files, including STEP files
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting deadlines

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience working on water treatment systems, industrial products, or engineering prototypes
  • Portfolio showcasing invention prototypes, technical products, or manufacturing models
