Role Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounting and Payroll Assistant to support daily financial operations in a fast-paced remote environment. The role will focus on bookkeeping, payroll processing, reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records using Xero. The ideal candidate has strong payroll and bookkeeping experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently within strict processing deadlines.
Schedule
- Part-time role (20 hours per week)
- Monday to Friday
- Flexible within Hove, South Australia business hours
Responsibilities
- Manage daily and weekly bookkeeping tasks using Xero
- Process payroll for approximately 75–100 employees accurately and on time
- Perform bank reconciliations and assist with financial reporting
- Maintain accurate financial records for audits and compliance purposes
- Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Monitor financial transactions and ensure proper recordkeeping
- Assist with resolving payroll or bookkeeping discrepancies
- Support management with financial administrative tasks as required
Requirements
- Proficiency in Xero accounting software
- Proven experience in payroll processing and bookkeeping
- Strong numerical skills with a high level of financial accuracy
- Ability to work within strict processing and payroll deadlines
- Ability to work independently in a remote work environment
- High attention to detail and confidentiality in handling financial data
Nice-to-Have Requirements
- Experience supporting Australian businesses or payroll systems
- Familiarity with audit preparation and compliance documentation
- Experience managing high-volume payroll environments
- Background in NDIS, healthcare, or community support industries
