Schedule: 40 hours per week, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM EST (with one-hour lunch break)
Responsibilities
- Produce permit-ready architectural and engineering drawing sets for submission to the New York City Department of Buildings
- Draft a variety of construction documents including general construction, architectural enlargements, mechanical, plumbing, sprinkler, and electrical drawings
- Ensure all drawings comply with jurisdiction-specific permitting standards and building codes
- Translate conceptual designs into complete, submission-ready permit drawing sets
- Conduct self-reviews and quality checks to minimize revision cycles and maintain accuracy
- Coordinate with the business owner to align deliverables with project timelines and client requirements
Requirements
- Proven experience using AutoCAD for architectural and engineering drafting
- Demonstrated experience preparing drawing sets for building permit submissions to a U.S. city agency or comparable jurisdiction
- Strong understanding of construction documentation standards and building code compliance
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong written communication skills for coordinating project updates and clarifications
Scope
- Full-time dedicated role, 40 hours per week, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM EST (with one-hour lunch break)
- Serve as the primary draftsperson handling all drafting output for the business
- Support multiple concurrent projects across various construction and engineering disciplines
- Progressively take ownership of the full drafting workflow to free up the business owner's time
- Deliver work that is ready for agency submission with minimal corrections required
