Job Description:

As a Quantity Takeoff Specialist, you will be responsible for preparing accurate quantity takeoffs and compiling structured bills of quantities from construction and engineering plans.

You will support the project team by extracting material and labour quantities for civil construction scopes, including earthworks, drainage, and platform construction, while ensuring all outputs are well-documented and aligned with internal pricing workflows.

The company is seeking a detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to assist with accurate quantity takeoffs and project pricing support for ongoing civil construction projects.

This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in construction takeoffs who enjoys working independently while contributing to the successful delivery of tenders and project planning activities.

Schedule:

• Mondays to Fridays, flexible schedule during the client’s business hours (New Zealand Standard Time, 20 hours per week)

Scope & Engagement:

• Support ongoing civil and occasional commercial construction projects
• Deliver organized and accurate takeoff documentation compatible with existing pricing systems
• Work on project-based assignments as new opportunities arise
• Collaborate remotely with the project and estimating teams

Responsibilities:

• Quantity Takeoffs & Estimating
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from civil and commercial construction drawings
• Read and interpret engineering and construction plans accurately
• Extract material, labour, and scope quantities for pricing and tendering purposes
• Documentation & Reporting
• Prepare comprehensive bills of quantities for project estimates
• Compile and organize all takeoff data into structured Excel spreadsheets
• Maintain accurate documentation and audit trails for completed takeoffs
• Project Coordination
• Coordinate with the project team to clarify drawings, specifications, and discrepancies
• Ensure completeness and accuracy across earthworks, drainage, and platform scopes
• Support project pricing workflows with reliable and timely estimating outputs

Requirements:

• Minimum 2–5 years of experience in quantity surveying or estimating for civil construction projects
• Strong understanding of civil construction scopes, including earthworks, drainage, and platform works
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and construction plans
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines effectively

Preferred:

• Experience supporting commercial construction projects
• Familiarity with tendering and construction pricing workflows
