Property Accounting Specialist (Rent Manager)

Overview:

We are a real estate asset management firm based in Southern California, overseeing a portfolio of approximately 50 commercial and industrial properties with more than 240 tenants. We deliver comprehensive property management services for high-net-worth investors and local family-owned portfolios, managing everything from financial operations and reporting to tenant relations and owner communications.

We are seeking a dedicated full-time Property Accounting Specialist (Rent Manager) to play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting month-end close activities using Rent Manager property accounting software. This position is heavily focused on bank reconciliations, account accuracy, and financial data integrity, with an average workload of 30–35 hours per week. Work is primarily concentrated around critical month-end closing periods, particularly during the last week of each month and the first week of the following month.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth, with the potential to take on additional responsibilities in financial reporting, analysis, and presentation preparation as expertise and familiarity with the portfolio increase.

Schedule: Mon-Fri, 12:00 PM - 9:00 PM PST | With one hour of unpaid break

Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations for approximately 50 property bank accounts by matching transactions between bank statements and Rent Manager software

  • Create and post journal entries to ensure accurate recording of all transactions in the property management system

  • Review bank statements and identify discrepancies between banking records and accounting records in Rent Manager

  • Complete all month-end reconciliation work within designated timeframes to support financial reporting deadlines by the 10th-11th of each month

  • Provide daily or weekly work summaries documenting completed tasks and hours worked

  • Assist with exporting and formatting monthly financial reports from Rent Manager into PDF presentation format using AI software tools

  • Support additional administrative and operational tasks related to property financial management as workload permits

Must-Have Requirements:

  • Proven accounting or bookkeeping experience with strong understanding of bank reconciliation processes and journal entry preparation

  • Experience working with property management companies or real estate accounting

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and meeting strict month-end deadlines

Nice-to-Have Requirements:

  • Previous experience using Rent Manager property accounting software

  • Familiarity with CRM systems or other property management software platforms

  • Background working with commercial or industrial real estate portfolios

  • Experience preparing financial reports and presentations for property owners or investors
