Residential Quantity Surveyor (CostX)

Job Overview

Our client is looking for a meticulous and experienced Residential Quantity Surveyor to join their team. This role focuses on providing high-quality quantity surveying services for residential and light commercial renovation projects across New Zealand. You will be responsible for ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with regional building standards while working remotely with an established team.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM NZDT, with 1 hour unpaid break (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Load architectural drawings into CostX and accurately quantify buildings using pre-built dimension groups.
  • Deliver full bills of quantities (BOQs) for light commercial and residential renovation projects.
  • Review and validate that all measured items correctly convert into BOQs within the CostX workbook.
  • Build out missing elements and line items not covered by standardized templates to ensure comprehensive documentation.
  • Cross-reference construction drawings against New Zealand building standards and installation manuals to verify product accuracy.
  • Produce detailed quantity surveying reports and file completed projects into the document management system.
  • Review all project documentation to ensure plans are correct and measurements align with specifications.
  • Collaborate remotely with the existing Philippines-based team and report directly to the business owner.
  • Access company systems remotely via AnyDesk to work on dedicated hardware.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal QS processes and templates.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a focus on residential and light commercial construction.
  • Proficiency in CostX quantity surveying software, including both the measurement and workbook modules.
  • Familiarity with Australian or New Zealand building standards and the ability to interpret installation manuals.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to verifying quantities against technical documentation.
  • Ability to work independently, proactively source reference materials, and problem-solve without constant supervision.
  • Professional written and verbal English communication skills.
