Accounting Assistant (Xero)

Overview

Our client is a UK-based business seeking a detail-oriented Finance Assistant for a long-term remote position focused on financial oversight and bookkeeping. In this role, you will utilize Xero and Microsoft Teams to manage day-to-day accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial record-keeping. Your efforts will directly improve cash flow visibility and provide management with accurate, weekly financial reporting to support key decision-making.

Schedule:

  • Part-Time (20 hours per week) Flexible within UK business hours | London time zone (GMT/BST)

Responsibilities

  • Manage accounts payable and receivable to ensure accurate and timely processing
  • Maintain up-to-date financial records and reconcile accounts within Xero
  • Prepare and deliver weekly financial reports to management for decision-making
  • Monitor outstanding invoices and follow up on overdue payments to support cash flow
  • Provide general administrative support to the finance team and wider business
  • Assist with month-end and period-end closing procedures
  • Ensure all financial data entry maintains a high degree of accuracy
  • Collaborate with the management team via Microsoft Teams on financial status

Requirements

  • Proven bookkeeping and finance assistant experience
  • Proficiency in Xero accounting software
  • Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy in financial data entry
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting with minimal supervision
  • Bonus if you have experience working within a UK business environment
  • It helps if you have experience with Microsoft Teams for project collaboration
