Overview

We are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to optimize our QuickBooks system and implement robust project-based accounting for our growing construction materials and brokerage business. In this role, you will transform our current basic invoicing into a centralized financial management tool, providing clear visibility into project profitability, varying vendor agreements, and trucking costs. If you are a certified QuickBooks expert with a background in construction accounting, this is an excellent opportunity to build and own a comprehensive financial tracking process from the ground up.

Schedule

• Monday to Friday (potentially Saturday), Central Time Zone 8 am - 6 pm (includes 1-hr unpaid break)

Responsibilities

• Set up and optimize the QuickBooks project section to track individual project profitability and expenses.
• Record and organize all financial transactions, including varying vendor agreements and trucking costs across multiple projects.
• Perform account reconciliation to ensure all bank accounts and financial records are balanced and up to date.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice processing and bill payment tracking.
• Consolidate financial data currently stored across multiple platforms into a centralized QuickBooks system.
• Provide regular financial reporting to show a clear picture of expenses versus income across all projects.
• Maintain ongoing bookkeeping tasks to ensure nothing falls through the cracks and records remain current.

Requirements

• QuickBooks certification with demonstrated expertise in advanced QuickBooks features, including project tracking.
• Proven experience with construction or project-based accounting where costs and vendors vary by project.
• Strong understanding of financial reconciliation and maintaining accurate financial records.

Nice-to-have:

• Experience with companies that operate in both service provision and brokerage models.
• Familiarity with trucking and logistics cost tracking in construction-related industries.
