Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive and technically strong Senior E-commerce Web Developer with 5+ years of experience building and maintaining e-commerce websites. This role is ideal for someone with deep expertise in Shopify, Shopify Plus, WordPress, WooCommerce, custom theme development, integrations, and e-commerce optimisation.

The ideal candidate is a strong problem-solver who can take ownership of projects, recommend technical improvements, and deliver clean, scalable, and conversion-focused ecommerce experiences.

Schedule: 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, flexible during business hours

Responsibilities

• Build, customise, maintain, and optimise Shopify, Shopify Plus, WordPress, and WooCommerce websites
• Develop custom Shopify themes, sections, templates, and Liquid functionality
• Build and customise WordPress themes, plugins, and WooCommerce functionality
• Implement responsive frontend builds using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern development practices
• Integrate third-party apps, CRMs, payment gateways, marketing tools, and ecommerce platforms
• Troubleshoot bugs, technical issues, and cross-browser compatibility problems
• Optimise websites for speed, Core Web Vitals, SEO, accessibility, and conversion performance
• Translate Figma designs and business requirements into pixel-perfect ecommerce builds
• Maintain clean, reusable, and well-documented code across multiple client projects
• Manage deployments, staging environments, QA testing, and ongoing website maintenance
• Collaborate with internal teams, including designers, marketers, project managers, and stakeholders
• Identify opportunities to improve e-commerce performance, workflows, automation, and customer experience

Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years of professional e-commerce web development experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Shopify, Shopify Plus, Liquid, and Shopify app integrations
• Advanced WordPress and WooCommerce development experience
• Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and responsive web development
• Experience with custom theme development and e-commerce functionality customisation
• Strong understanding of e-commerce UX, conversion optimisation, and customer journey best practices
• Experience integrating payment gateways, shipping tools, CRMs, and marketing platforms
• Experience using Git, staging environments, and deployment workflows

Nice to Have

• Experience with Shopify Hydrogen or headless e-commerce builds
• Familiarity with React, Next.js, or modern frontend frameworks
• Experience with Klaviyo, GA4, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, or HubSpot integrations
• Understanding of CRO strategies and e-commerce analytics
• Experience mentoring junior developers or conducting code reviews
• Experience working within an agency environment, managing multiple client accounts
