Job Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Social Security Disability Case Manager (SSA/SSD Claims) to manage a high-volume caseload from intake through the hearing level. This role is designed for a seasoned legal professional who can step into the position with minimal training. You must possess direct, prior experience handling Social Security Disability cases and interacting confidently with the Social Security Administration (SSA). By overseeing critical appeals, tracking complex medical evidence, and maintaining regular client communication, you will ensure that individuals receive the vital advocacy and representation they need.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM EST (Philadelphia, PA Time)

  • Note: Includes a 30-minute paid break (40 hours per week).

Responsibilities:

  • Case Lifecycle Management: Manage and move Social Security Disability cases independently from initial client intake up through the formal hearing level
  • Appeals & Filings: Prepare, verify, and file initial applications, reconsiderations, and administrative hearing requests accurately within strict statutory deadlines
  • Agency Liaison: Communicate directly and professionally with the SSA, Disability Determination Services (DDS), and Office of Hearing Operations (OHO)
  • Medical Evidence Tracking: Request, analyze, track, and follow up on critical medical records, physician opinions, and evidentiary documentation
  • Data Hygiene: Maintain meticulous case notes, update client profiles, and log upcoming deadlines within the electronic case management system
  • Client Advocacy: Communicate regularly with clients to provide empathetic case status updates, gather updated medical treatment history, and explain next steps
  • Legal Team Support: Assist attorneys and paralegals with comprehensive hearing preparation, brief writing data, and evidence collation

Requirements:

  • Disability Claims Expertise: Prior, hands-on experience handling Social Security Disability (SSD/SSI) casework is strictly required
  • Systemic Knowledge: A deep understanding of SSA blue book criteria, listings, grid rules, procedural timelines, and documentation requirements
  • Agency Navigation: Proven experience successfully communicating with DDS adjudicators, claims representatives, and medical provider records departments
  • Volume Management: Highly comfortable working efficiently and maintaining extreme attention to detail in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills suitable for federal agency correspondence and client care

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience managing Veterans Disability (VA) claims is considered a major asset
  • Familiarity with specialized legal practice software, specifically Litify or Salesforce, is highly preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a distinct advantage
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection and a secure home office setup compliant with privacy standards for handling sensitive medical records
