AU Bookkeeper (MYOB + Xero)

Job Overview

Our client is looking for a candidate to handle day-to-day bookkeeping tasks while leading the transition from MYOB to Xero over the next several months. This position offers the opportunity to work remotely with a stable business during a strategic operational upgrade.

Client Overview

The client is an established business based in Sydney, Australia, operating for the past 4-5 years. They are currently transitioning their accounting systems from MYOB to Xero to improve efficiency and user accessibility.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 9:30 am - 1:30 pm Sydney, AU (15-20 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily bank reconciliation of invoices and payments received in bank accounts.
  • Manage PAYG (Pay As You Go) tax lodgments and compliance requirements.
  • Process and lodge payday superannuation payments in accordance with Australian regulations.
  • Lead the end-to-end migration of financial data from MYOB to Xero accounting platform.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records across both systems during the transition period.
  • Ensure all customer data is successfully transferred to Xero by end of financial year.
  • Close out MYOB subscription and consolidate all bookkeeping activities on Xero platform by June.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with both MYOB and Xero accounting platforms.
  • Experience with bank reconciliation and payment processing.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian bookkeeping practices including PAYG and superannuation compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage accounting system migrations and data transitions.
  • Excellent communication skills for remote collaboration.

Qualifications

  • QuickBooks certification or experience with multiple accounting platforms.
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
  • Previous experience working with Australian small to medium businesses.
