Data & Systems Architect

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Data & Systems Architect to design and lead a modern, scalable data and systems ecosystem. This role is central to connecting business strategy with technology—ensuring that data is reliable, secure, and actionable across the organization. You will take ownership of the overall architecture, from data modeling and system integration to governance and performance optimization, helping a mission-driven organization operate with greater efficiency, insight, and impact.

Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday, Flexible schedule (40 hours per week) - (Australia – New South Wales alignment)

Responsibilities

  • Translate business needs into scalable technical solutions, architecture blueprints, and cloud infrastructure definitions.
  • Design and optimize conceptual, logical, and physical data models along with complex database structures.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies aligned with long-term performance and scalability requirements.
  • Lead data strategy development while establishing quality standards, validation frameworks, and lifecycle management policies.
  • Ensure strong data security, privacy, and adherence to regulatory frameworks across all systems.
  • Design and implement robust ETL/ELT, streaming, and API frameworks to enable seamless data exchange across hybrid platforms.
  • Build high-availability, fault-tolerant systems including disaster recovery, backup strategies, and redundancy planning.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance, load handling, and resource utilization for continuous growth.
  • Act as a technical authority to define best practices, mentor engineers, and guide cross-functional architectural decision-making.
  • Produce detailed technical specifications and communicate complex architectural concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in data architecture, systems design, or technical architecture roles
  • Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and distributed systems
  • Expertise in data modeling, databases (SQL & NoSQL), and data warehousing
  • Experience with integration patterns, APIs, ETL/ELT pipelines, and messaging systems
  • Familiarity with modern architectures (microservices, event-driven, serverless)
  • Strong understanding of security, data governance, and compliance frameworks
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C#)
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with tools like Kafka, RabbitMQ, Informatica, or similar
  • Exposure to CRM/ERP platforms (e.g., Salesforce, NetSuite)
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect)
