Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Accountant to support Australian businesses with end-to-end accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, and tax compliance functions. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional with strong expertise in Australian taxation, financial reporting, and cloud-based accounting platforms such as Xero and MYOB.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with Australian accounting standards, and supporting business operations through timely reporting and proactive financial management. You will work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with external accountants, tax agents, and stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient accounting processes.

Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM with 30-minute paid break (Duncraig, Western Australia timezone) 

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end accounting and bookkeeping functions for Australian businesses
  • Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS, GST, payroll tax, and other Australian tax obligations
  • Assist with EOFY processes, financial statements, and compliance reporting
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards
  • Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Process payroll and ensure compliance with Australian payroll regulations
  • Coordinate with external accountants, tax agents, and business stakeholders as required
  • Prepare financial reports, cash flow summaries, and management reports
  • Identify discrepancies and proactively resolve accounting issues
  • Support process improvements and maintain organized financial documentation
  • Use cloud-based accounting software to manage day-to-day accounting operations

Requirements

  • 5+ years of senior accounting experience supporting Australian businesses
  • Strong knowledge of Australian business taxes, including BAS, GST, PAYG, and payroll tax
  • Proven experience with Australian accounting compliance and reporting requirements
  • Advanced experience with Xero and/or MYOB
  • Strong understanding of Australian payroll processes and superannuation
  • Experience preparing financial reports and assisting with EOFY activities
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • CPA or CA qualification is highly preferred
  • Experience working remotely with international teams is an advantage
