Residential Draftsperson (Revit)

Job Overview

Our client is seeking a skilled Residential Draftsperson to play a key role in systematizing and scaling their design library. This role is focused on the development of standardized residential house plans tailored to specific block widths and design parameters. You will be responsible for turning conceptual sketches and written briefs into detailed, buildable technical drawings. This is an ideal position for a detail-oriented professional who understands the balance between scalable standardization and client-specific customization in the residential construction industry.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM AU time, with 1 hour unpaid break (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and expand a library of residential house plans based on block widths, dimensions, and predefined parameters (bedroom/garage sizes, ceiling heights, etc.).
  • Create scalable and standardized plan variations across different lot sizes to ensure versatile building options.
  • Convert sketches, written briefs, and client inputs into detailed floor plans, elevations, and basic construction sets.
  • Update and modify baseline designs based on client customization requests while maintaining accuracy and buildability.
  • Organize and manage drawing files, revisions, and documentation to ensure internal consistency and standards.
  • Contribute to internal efficiency by reducing reliance on outsourced drafting through consistent, high-quality output.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Draftsperson specifically within the residential construction sector.
  • Strong proficiency in Revit is highly preferred. Experience in AutoCAD or ArchiCAD is acceptable, provided there is a willingness to transition to Revit.
  • Experience working on new builds is strongly preferred over renovation experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret hand sketches, written briefs, and conceptual inputs into technical drawings.
  • Exceptional accuracy in technical drawings and the ability to work efficiently under deadlines.
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to apply initiative when working with loosely defined inputs.

Qualifications

  • Experience in creating standardized/scalable architectural sets.
  • Exposure to AI rendering or visualization tools is a plus but not required.
  • Strong understanding of residential building codes and construction standards.

Independent Contractor Perks

  • Permanent work from home
  • Immediate hiring
  • Health Insurance Coverage for eligible locations
