Our client is seeking a Medical Insurance & Patient Support Coordinator to manage critical administrative and insurance-related workflows within the healthcare industry. This role is essential for ensuring that patient treatments continue without interruption by managing authorizations, medical reporting, and physician requests. You will serve as a key point of contact for insurance determinations and medical record distribution, requiring a blend of technical healthcare knowledge and exceptional customer service. Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (Los Gatos, CA), with a 30-minute unpaid break (40 hours per week)
Responsibilities
- Authorization Management: Handle extension requests for ongoing treatments and manage all revised authorizations for out-of-office referrals.
- Physician Support: Proactively follow up on Primary Treating Physician (PTP) and Secondary Treating Physician (STP) requests and pending authorizations.
- Claims Processing: Process all medical determinations received via EDATA and ensure accurate updates are reflected in internal systems.
- Reporting & Records: Send Work Status (WS) reports and Medical Records (MRs) from the end-of-day lists to relevant stakeholders.
- Data Tracking: Maintain and update WC TRACKERS with precision to ensure all case movements are documented.
- Communication: Respond to incoming emails and answer phone calls, providing professional support to patients, providers, and insurance carriers.
- Administrative Tools: Utilize Microsoft Teams for internal collaboration and JotForm (or similar software) for data collection and processing.
Requirements
- Industry Experience: Must have proven experience in the medical field or healthcare industry.
- Insurance Knowledge: Prior experience with HMO, PPO, or general medical insurance is highly preferred.
- Communication Excellence: Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for success in this role.
- Customer Service: Excellent customer service skills with a patient-first mentality.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Teams; experience with JotForm is a plus.
- Soft Skills: Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the discipline to work independently and remotely.
Qualifications
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive patient health information (PHI).
- Reliable internet connection and a dedicated, professional home office setup.
- Ability to manage high volumes of medical documentation with meticulous attention to detail.
