Our client is an Australian-based business focused on providing contracting and product solutions across various industries. As they expand their operations, they are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeping & Administrative Assistant to streamline internal financial processes and support their growing e-commerce presence. This role is a unique blend of core financial record management and Shopify support, making it ideal for a proactive professional who thrives in an organized, independent working environment. You will play a vital role in the company's transition from an ABN to a PTY company structure, ensuring all data is accurate and audit-ready.

Schedule  

  • Flexible during business hours within the Bellmere, QLD timezone. (20 hours per week) 

Responsibilities

  • Financial Cleanup: Review and categorize a full year of bank statement transactions, meticulously separating personal and business expenses.
  • Data Management: Accurately log receipts and financial data into accounting software on a weekly basis to maintain up-to-date records.
  • Shopify Operations: Upload product images, write compelling descriptions, and manage product listings to enhance the e-commerce storefront.
  • Product Research: Browse supplier and distributor catalogues to identify potential products and conduct basic market research.
  • Structural Support: Assist in organizing critical financial documentation during the business's transition from an ABN to a PTY company structure.
  • Reporting: Provide consistent, detailed progress updates to the business owner regarding completed and pending tasks.
  • Administrative Support: Support general administrative tasks as required to maintain smooth business operations.

Requirements

  • Financial Background: Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial administration.
  • Software Proficiency: Familiarity with accounting tools, with a strong preference for Xero.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy in financial data entry, categorization, and record maintenance.
  • Independence: Ability to work autonomously and manage a flexible schedule effectively while meeting deadlines.
  • Communication: Strong written communication skills for regular reporting and internal updates.
  • Integrity: A high level of confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive financial information.

Qualifications

  • Basic experience with Shopify or similar e-commerce platforms is preferred.
  • Experience working with Australian businesses or tax structures (specifically the ABN to PTY transition) is a plus.
  • Exposure to product research or e-commerce merchandising.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
