Junior Reconciliations Accountant

Job Overview:

Our client is a fast-growing, technology-driven private lending company reshaping access to capital for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) across Australia. They specialize in short-term business loans ($5,000–$100,000) with a market-leading promise: approval and funding deposited within two hours. With a 200% first-half growth rate and a 90% approval rate, they are rapidly becoming a disruptive force in the Australian financial services sector.

We are seeking a Junior Chartered Accountant (CA) or CPA with direct experience in loan reconciliations and collections to join their finance operations team. This is not a traditional administrative or bookkeeping role. You will own the financial accuracy of loan disbursements, repayments, and third-party data reconciliation. You will work with loan amortization schedules, collections ledgers, and large datasets—and you will enjoy finding discrepancies that others overlook.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week
Shift: Aligns with Australian Business Hours (e.g., 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM Manila Time)
Location: Permanent Work From Home

Key Responsibilities
Reconciliation & Financial Accuracy (Primary Focus – 60%)

  • Reconcile daily loan disbursements and repayments against bank statements and internal loan ledgers.

  • Reconcile income and expense data between the client’s lending system and third-party broker dashboard platforms (e.g., Orgmeter or similar).

  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in loan amortization schedules, payment allocations, and collections data.

  • Prepare daily/weekly reconciliation reports for management review, highlighting any outstanding variances.

Collections Support (20%)

  • Monitor overdue loan accounts and reconcile collections received against outstanding principal and interest balances.

  • Work cross-functionally with the client success team to ensure borrower payments are applied correctly and on time.

  • Flag accounts requiring escalation based on reconciliation findings (e.g., repeated arrears, unallocated payments).

Data Integrity & Reporting (20%)

  • Manage and reconcile large datasets (10,000+ rows) using Excel and Google Sheets (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, data validation, IF statements).

  • Maintain accuracy of loan records within HubSpot CRM and internal loan management databases.

  • Identify opportunities for automation in reconciliation workflows (experience with Zapier, Make, or basic scripts is a strong plus).

Requirements

Must-Haves (Non-Negotiable):

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) or CPA qualification (or final-year candidate actively taking exams).

  • Collections or loan repayment experience – you understand how loan amortization works and how to reconcile arrears on a lending book.

  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills – confident with large datasets, pivot tables, and lookup functions.

  • Detail-obsessed mindset – you actively enjoy finding the $10 discrepancy that everyone else missed.

  • Ability to work independently in a high-velocity, technology-driven environment (loans approved in hours, not days).

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience with Orgmeter or similar lending data aggregation platforms.

  • Familiarity with HubSpot CRM.

  • Understanding of automation tools (Zapier, Make, or basic scripts).

  • Previous experience in Australian lending, fintech, or private credit.
