Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and client-focused SME Accountant to manage a portfolio of small to medium-sized business clients. This role is ideal for a proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced, client-facing environment and can provide insightful financial guidance beyond basic reporting.

You will play a key role in delivering accurate financial information, supporting strategic decision-making, and building strong client relationships through clear communication and expert financial analysis.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM to 9:00 AM Pacific Time (4 hours per day, 20 hours per week) 

Key Responsibilities
● Own a portfolio of SME clients (typically £500k–£10m turnover)
● Prepare and review monthly management accounts with clear commentary and actionable insights
● Analyze performance, margins, and cash flow to support client decision-making
● Prepare and finalize year-end statutory accounts & CT600 (FRS 102 / FRS 105)
● Review and oversee bookkeeping to ensure accuracy and completeness
● Deliver balance sheet reconciliations and maintain strong working papers
● Lead client calls, presenting financials in a clear and confident manner
● Identify opportunities for improvement, cost savings, and growth
● Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling
● Work with cloud systems such as Xero and QuickBooks

Requirements
● Experience in accounting or bookkeeping, preferably handling SME clients
● Strong understanding of financial statements and management accounts
● Experience preparing year-end accounts and basic tax filings (e.g., CT600)
● Familiarity with UK accounting standards (FRS 102 or FRS 105 is a plus)
● Experience using accounting software such as Xero or QuickBooks
● Good analytical skills with the ability to review financial data and identify insights
● Strong attention to detail and accuracy
● Good communication skills, especially in presenting financial information to clients
● Ability to manage multiple clients and meet deadlines
● Comfortable working remotely and independently
