Role Overview: Bookkeeper
We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage financial records using Xero, including reconciliations, AP/AR, and tax preparation support.
This role involves handling grant-related finances, payroll, and invoicing while ensuring compliance with Canadian standards.
Ideal for a highly organized professional who can work independently in a flexible, part-time, deadline-driven environment.
Schedue: Mon-Fri 20 hours a week (flexible) EST
Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using Xero accounting software
- Perform bank and account reconciliations to ensure books are balanced
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Organize and prepare financial documentation for tax preparation purposes
- Track and manage grant-related financials, ensuring proper categorization and reporting
- Support invoicing and payroll processing as needed
Requirements:
- Proven experience with Xero accounting software
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles including reconciliations, AP/AR, and general ledger management
- Experience with tax preparation support and organizing financial records for filing
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Scope:
- Part-time role (20 hours/week) with potential for fuller hours during the initial onboarding period
- Flexible schedule, Monday to Friday, with task-based deadlines
- Manage and organize multiple grant-related financial accounts
- Ensure financial records are audit-ready and compliant with Canadian standards
- Communicate progress and deliverables proactively to the client
