Job Description

Embark on an exciting career as a Virtual Medical Assistant with a dynamic, forward-thinking physical therapy practice. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of patient care coordination, managing crucial administrative tasks that keep the practice running smoothly. You’ll have the opportunity to work remotely while making a significant impact on patient outcomes. Your responsibilities will span from managing electronic communications to maintaining accurate patient records, all while collaborating with a passionate team of healthcare professionals. This position offers the perfect blend of administrative expertise and healthcare support, allowing you to grow your skills in a rapidly evolving field.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, (35 hours per week ) Monday - Friday, 9:00AM - 5:00 PM EST (7 hours per day, 1 hour unpaid break) 

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently manage electronic faxes, ensuring timely processing of incoming and outgoing medical communications
  • Craft and dispatch physical therapy prescription order requests with precision and attention to detail
  • Enter patient demographics and vital information into Word documents, maintaining the highest standards of accuracy
  • Seamlessly upload and organize patient documents within the electronic medical record (EMR) system
  • Provide exceptional customer service by answering phone calls and addressing patient inquiries
  • Perform essential daily tasks within the EMR system, contributing to streamlined patient care
  • Collaborate effectively with the physical therapy team, facilitating smooth information flow and supporting patient care coordination
  • Adapt to evolving needs of the practice, taking on additional administrative duties as the business grows

Requirements

  • Proven experience in medical administration or as a medical assistant, with a strong understanding of healthcare processes
  • Proficiency in electronic fax systems, word processing software, and ability to quickly learn new technologies
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and document management
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, healthcare providers, and team members
  • Solid understanding of patient confidentiality principles and HIPAA regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment
  • Flexibility to align work hours with the practice’s schedule (US Eastern Time Zone)
  • Comfort with using provided communication tools, including a virtual phone system with texting capabilities
  • Enthusiasm for contributing to a growing healthcare practice and adapting to new challenges
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take initiative in improving administrative processes
  • Adapt to evolving needs of the practice, taking on additional administrative duties as the business grows.
