Our client is an established electrical contracting company operating in both service and maintenance divisions as well as project-based work. They specialize in new homes, townhouses, and light commercial projects with plans to expand their commercial operations.

Job Overview

This is a part-time electrical estimator position with potential to grow into a full-time role based on business demand and performance. The role focuses on commercial project estimation to increase quote volume and secure new builder partnerships. The ideal candidate will work independently to prepare quotes from start to finish, requiring minimal oversight after an initial training period.

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM AEST (Part-Time, 20 hours per week)

Client Timezone: Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST)

Responsibilities

• Perform quantity take-offs from ground plans for commercial electrical projects.

• Obtain and compare supplier quotes for project materials and components.

• Input detailed estimates into Simpro software for invoicing and quoting purposes.

• Prepare complete quotes ready for final review and submission to builders.

• Communicate regularly with management regarding project questions and clarifications during the onboarding phase.

Requirements

• Mid-level experience in electrical estimating for commercial projects.

• Proven ability to perform quantity take-offs from architectural and engineering plans. Strong knowledge of electrical materials, components, and supplier sourcing.

Nice to have:

• Previous experience using Simpro software for estimating and quoting.

• Background working with Australian electrical contractors or builders.

• Electrical or engineering qualifications or trade background.

• Experience estimating for new residential construction including townhouses and light commercial buildings.
