Interior Design Architect

Role Overview:

We are seeking a technically proficient and highly organized Interior Designer who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment. This role involves close collaboration with our Australian-based team on drawings, moodboards, presentations, and product schedules. The successful candidate will manage their own weekly workflow and reporting while ensuring all deliverables meet the highest standards.

Client Overview:

This Sydney-based interior design business has 20 years of experience providing comprehensive interior solutions. Its services include creating detailed interior drawings from site measurements or architect plans, conducting client consultations for material and joinery selections, and preparing FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment) schedules. The company is transitioning from Excel-based tracking to specialized online software that integrates interior design and project management functions.

Schedule:

  • Mondays to Fridays, 9;00 am to 5:00 pm (Australian Eastern Time), with a 1-hour paid break (40 hours per week)

Responsibilities:

  • Use ArchiCAD daily to create and modify scaled drawing sets (floor plans, joinery, elevations, layouts).
  • Develop both 2D and 3D moodboards and presentation documents using InDesign.
  • Produce Photoshop sketch overlays to communicate design intent for client presentations.
  • Create and update FF&E and furniture schedules using Excel or Programa.
  • Support the team with specification documentation, quoting, and supplier research.
  • Assist in creating and formatting business documents (e.g., investment guides).
  • Liaise with Australian and overseas suppliers for product availability and quotations.
  • Maintain version control of drawings and documentation across shared folders.
  • Contribute to internal drawing reviews using Studio Trio’s checklist and SOPs.
  • Monitor design tasks, prepare weekly workflow plans, and submit progress reports.
  • Ensure documentation aligns with relevant NCC (National Construction Code) / BCA (Building Code of Australia) requirements.
  • Review all deliverables to ensure compliance with internal quality standards before client or builder presentations.

Requirements:

  • Required Qualifications & Skills
  • Degree or diploma in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a design practice or studio.
  • Advanced proficiency in ArchiCAD (non-negotiable).
  • Strong Adobe Creative Suite skills, especially in InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Experience preparing visual presentations (sketch overlays, client-facing boards).
  • Strong knowledge of construction drawings and industry terminology.
  • Familiarity with NCC / BCA standards for layouts and compliance.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken) with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to self-schedule and report hours weekly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Experience with Programa, Notion, or Asana is a plus.

  • This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet connection, and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits.
