Overview
We are seeking a capable and highly organized Personal Injury Assistant to support our litigation team in handling a range of claims under US and Common Law principles. The successful candidate will play a critical role in case preparation, document management, and client liaison. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of medical records and drafting essential legal documents related to negligence, employer liability, and occupier’s liability claims.
Schedule:
- 40+ hrs/week | Mon–Fri, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM EST (includes 30-minute unpaid break)

Key Responsibilities
1. Case Management & Organization
- Clio Mastery: Maintain accurate, up-to-the-minute case records and client files within Clio (our practice management software).
- Deadline Management: Strictly manage court timetables, limitation dates, and filing deadlines to ensure zero lapses in compliance.
- Client Liaison: Conduct initial interviews, obtain instructions, and maintain proactive communication with clients, experts, and counsel.
2. Medical Records & Evidence
- Record Coordination: Responsible for ordering, gathering, and organizing all relevant medical records and billing.
- Medical Summaries: Create concise, accurate summaries of medical records and expert reports for attorney review.
- Expert Liaison: Coordinate with medical experts to ensure timely delivery of reports and clarification of findings.
3. Legal Drafting & Research
- Pleadings & Statements: Prepare draft pleadings, witness statements, and detailed schedules of special damages.
- Correspondence: Draft professional correspondence to insurers, opposing counsel, and the court.
- Legal Research: Conduct research on liability and quantum (damages) using US/Common Law sources and precedents.
4. Litigation Support
- Trial Preparation: Assist with the preparation of comprehensive trial bundles and court documents.
- Court Attendance: Attend court (remotely or in person) to assist counsel and solicitors as required.
- Compliance: Ensure all files meet strict legal and firm-wide compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Legal Certification: Relevant legal qualification (e.g., LLB, CILEx, or Paralegal Certification).
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience specifically in personal injury law.
- Legal Knowledge: Solid understanding of negligence principles (Duty of Care, Causation, and Damages) and Civil Procedure Rules (CPR).
- Technical Skills: High proficiency in Clio (or similar case management systems) and standard office software.
- Drafting Skills: Strong legal drafting and analytical skills with an obsession for detail.
- Bilingualism (Desirable): Fluency in Spanish and English is highly preferred to assist our diverse client base.
- Portal Knowledge (Desirable): Experience with MOJ Portal claims and fixed-cost regimes.
- Cross-Border Expertise (Desirable): Familiarity with international personal injury cases or claims involving expatriates.
- Industry Knowledge (Desirable): Understanding of rehabilitation protocols and insurance industry standards.

This role requires an individual who is exceptionally organized. You will be managing multiple moving parts across various cases; the ability to categorize information logically and retrieve it quickly is essential to our firm's success.

Candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet connection, and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits.
