Job Overview

You’ll play a crucial role in transforming this construction company’s financial organization by tackling both immediate catch-up needs and establishing ongoing bookkeeping excellence. This position offers the unique opportunity to make a real impact by bringing order to years of financial data while building sustainable processes for the future. You’ll work independently in a flexible remote environment where your bookkeeping expertise will be truly valued and directly contribute to the business’s financial health.

Schedule: Part-time (20 hours per week, 80 hours monthly), 8am-12pm Monday-Friday

Client Timezone: Eastern Time (Kentucky)

Responsibilities:

  • Process and code multiple years of backlogged bank statements and check stub entries to bring accounts current
  • Perform accurate data entry for financial transactions using established coding systems and spreadsheet frameworks
  • Work with scanned bank statements and check stubs to input properly categorized financial data
  • Handle both intensive project-based catch-up work and steady ongoing monthly bookkeeping tasks
  • Follow and enhance existing spreadsheet systems with pre-coded transaction categories and cost codes
  • Identify and properly categorize transactions, including research and notation for incomplete vendor information
  • Balance and process annual financial data to meet year-end requirements and software constraints
  • Maintain accurate records for general journal entries, checks, and various financial transactions

Requirements:

  • Proven bookkeeping experience with strong understanding of financial coding and categorization systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately with bank statements, check stubs, and financial documentation
  • Experience with data entry and financial record organization in business environments
  • Comfortable working remotely using scanned documents and screen-sharing technology
  • Strong attention to detail for precise transaction coding and account management
  • Bonus if you have construction industry experience or familiarity with project-based cost coding
  • It helps if you’re comfortable with varying workloads and can adapt to project-driven schedules

  • This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet connection, and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits. Professional hourly fees are established based on your performance in the application process.
