Web Developer

Job Overview

Our client is looking for a Web Developer to complete, polish, and optimize existing websites, as well as build new websites from scratch. The goal is to ensure all digital properties are visually appealing, functional, mobile-responsive, and SEO-friendly. The successful candidate will manage the full lifecycle of web projects, from initial wireframing to final speed optimization and publishing.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST, with 1 hour break (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Site Completion & Optimization: Review handover documents; audit current sites for broken elements; execute pending tasks; ensure design consistency; and verify full mobile responsiveness.
  • New Site Builds: Set up domains, SSL, and workspaces; create wireframes and mockups for approval; build core pages (Home, About, Services, Team, Contact); and integrate CTAs and booking systems.
  • Site Modernization & Redesign: Audit existing sites for updates; modernize layouts, typography, and imagery; and ensure conversion points are prominent on every page.
  • Technical Implementation: Configure contact forms; implement basic SEO (meta descriptions, headings, URLs); and optimize site speed to a minimum target of 80+ on Google PageSpeed Insights.
  • Reporting & Communication: Provide daily updates on progress; communicate blockers promptly; and obtain sign-off before major structural changes.
  • Work Standards: Document all access credentials and changes; avoid unapproved third-party plugins; and ensure all projects meet corporate brand guidelines.

Requirements

  • Proficient in web development platforms (e.g., WordPress, IONOS, custom CMS).
  • Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design.
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and web performance optimization.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills for daily reporting and project handoffs.

This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet connection, and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits.
