Job Overview

You’ll be the estimating backbone for a fast-growing construction business that’s ready to capture every opportunity that comes their way. This role puts you at the center of their growth strategy, where your expertise in takeoffs and pricing will directly impact their ability to win more projects and scale their operations. You’ll work closely with the Director of Operations, handling everything from initial estimates to supplier coordination, while also helping streamline their systems for maximum efficiency.

Schedule

  • Flexible within Australian Western Standard Time, Perth (20 hours per week minimum)

Responsibilities

  • Technical Takeoffs: Perform accurate quantity calculations and takeoffs for commercial electrical projects from structural drawings and site plans.
  • Project Scheduling: Develop realistic project timeframes and scheduling estimates to ensure delivery excellence.
  • Vendor Coordination: Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing and manage quote follow-ups.
  • System Optimization: Clean up and streamline the backend supplier database, removing duplicates and optimizing product catalogs for faster pricing.
  • Estimation Delivery: Review full project packages and deliver detailed, data-backed estimates based on technical documentation and BOQs.
  • Technical Advisory: Provide expertise and answer internal questions regarding project requirements and material specifications.

Requirements

  • Proven Experience: Demonstrated background in construction estimating and takeoff calculations.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in estimating software such as Bluebeam, BuildSoft, or advanced Excel.
  • Blueprint Literacy: Strong ability to read and interpret BOQs, structural drawings, and site plans.
  • Communication: Clear verbal and written English skills for professional interactions with Australian suppliers and clients.
  • Precision: Exceptional attention to detail—accuracy in your calculations is the difference between profit and loss.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Australian construction standards and practices (Strongly Preferred).
  • Experience with Scorer software or GoHighLevel CRM (A Significant Plus).
  • Background in the Electrical trade or commercial specialty contracting (Preferred).
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to suggest system improvements.

Side Note

This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own high-performance computer capable of running rendering/estimating software and a reliable internet connection. You are responsible for your own taxes and benefits.
