Construction Bookkeeper | QBO & Progress Billing Specialist

Job Overview

Our client is looking for an offshore bookkeeper with construction accounting experience to support small and mid-sized contractors inside the Breva platform. This person will help customers keep their books clean, classify transactions, support reconciliations, prepare journal entries, and keep jobs pay-app-ready, WIP-ready, and lender-ready. The role involves working across both Breva’s business workflows and construction workflows, including ledger, AR/AP, retainage, pay apps, cash planning, and related documentation. Breva is designed to support both a Breva-native ledger and a QuickBooks Online mirror workflow, so QuickBooks experience is highly valuable.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST, with 1 hour unpaid break (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Clean up and categorize transactions
  • Support bank and account reconciliations
  • Prepare month-end journal entries and light AR/AP work
  • Help maintain job-level financial accuracy across retainage, pay apps, and WIP-related workflows
  • Request missing documents and follow up with customers
  • Help customers keep Breva and QuickBooks aligned when they are using QBO
  • Support invoice, bill, payment, and retainage workflows in QBO mirror mode
  • Flag exceptions, mismatches, and items that could delay month-close or pay-app readiness

Requirements

  • 3+ years of bookkeeping experience
  • Strong QuickBooks Online experience
  • Experience with construction accounting or construction contractors
  • Comfortable with progress billing, AIA pay apps, retainage, WIP, AR/AP, and monthly close
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and responsive with good written English
  • Comfortable working in software platforms and following structured workflows

Qualifications

  • Bonus: Previous experience working with subcontractors, general contractors, or construction lenders/sureties

  • This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet connection, and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits.
