Senior Google Ads / SEM Specialist

Job Overview

Our client is a leading Australian marketing agency passionate about creating effective digital strategies that drive measurable results. As they continue to expand their Google Ads division, they are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Google Ads / SEM Specialist to join their growing team. In this role, you will take full ownership of developing and executing sophisticated strategies for a diverse portfolio of clients, managing everything from initial keyword research to advanced performance analysis and technical tracking setups.

Schedule

  • Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Sydney Time (38 hours per week / 7.6 hours per day).

Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Implementation: Develop comprehensive Google Ads strategies aligned with client goals, including recommending campaign structures, match types, and optimization targets.
  • Research & Targeting: Conduct in-depth keyword and competitor research along with audience targeting to maximize campaign reach.
  • Technical Setup: Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Google Tag Manager (GTM), including setting up conversion events and auditing existing tracking implementations.
  • Ad Creation: Create compelling ad copy (to be finalized by a copywriter) that aligns perfectly with the client’s products, services, and target market.
  • Performance Optimization: Manage budgets and bidding strategies to optimize ROI. Audit website/landing page performance and provide recommendations for conversion rate optimization (CRO).
  • Reporting & Dashboards: Monitor campaign pacing and metrics, providing regular reports via Whatagraph and utilizing Zapier for workflow automation.
  • Continuous Growth: Invest 1 hour per week into R&D to stay up-to-date with the latest Google Ads trends and best practices.

Requirements

  • Experience: Must have 3+ years of proven experience managing Google Ads campaigns specifically within an agency setting.
  • Technical Mastery: High proficiency in Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and relevant SEM tools.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets to drive campaign improvements.
  • Communication: Strong communication and presentation skills suitable for internal team collaboration and reporting to Account Managers.
  • Digital Principles: A solid understanding of broader digital marketing principles and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Advanced experience in GA4 event tracking and GTM container management.
  • Basic ability to provide "direct response" copywriting tweaks and visual asset suggestions to improve landing page performance.
  • Reliable high-speed internet and a dedicated remote workspace.

This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own computer and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits. Professional hourly fees are established based on your performance and depth of agency experience demonstrated during the application process.
