AU Xero Bookkeeper
Job Overview:
Our client is looking for an experienced bookkeeper to manage daily financial operations and ensure compliance with Australian Taxation Office requirements. This is a part-time position requiring 20 hours per week to handle bookkeeping tasks and project cost tracking. The role offers flexibility to take on additional administrative tasks as workload permits and provides an opportunity to work remotely with an established construction business.
Client Overview:
The client is a civil construction company working in the oil and gas field sector in Australia. The company manages multiple construction projects with annual revenue in the range of a couple of million dollars and requires accurate financial tracking and compliance with Australian regulatory requirements.
Schedule:
- Mondays to Fridays, 1:30 to 5:30 pm (Australian Eastern Time, 20 hours per week)

Responsibilities:
- Manage daily bookkeeping operations in Xero, including entering invoices and receipts.
- Categorize transactions into appropriate cost categories and maintain accurate financial records.
- Ensure compliance with Australian Taxation Office ATO reporting requirements and superannuation reporting obligations.
- Create and manage projects in Xero by purchase order to capture profit and loss by individual project.
- Track project costs throughout their lifecycle to facilitate accurate and timely invoicing.
- Perform regular financial reconciliations and maintain up-to-date records.
- Assist with additional administrative tasks as workload permits.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of professional bookkeeping experience with Australian companies.
- Demonstrated expertise in Xero accounting software, including project management features.
- Strong understanding of Australian Taxation Office ATO requirements and superannuation reporting standards.
Nice-to-Have Requirements:
- Previous experience working with construction companies in Australia.
- Familiarity with SharePoint for document management and collaboration.
