Job Overview
Our client is looking for an experienced Estimator to support their estimating and pre-construction team. This is not an entry-level role; the successful candidate must understand Australian residential construction, interpret complex drawings, and provide detailed cost assessments for high-end projects. You will play a critical role in project feasibility, take-offs, and budgeting for architectural homes and large renovations, ensuring projects remain financially viable without compromising on construction quality.
Client Overview
The client is a premium construction firm specializing in architectural homes, large-scale extensions, and high-end design-and-build residential projects. Schedule
- Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Brisbane, AU Time, with a 30-minute paid break (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities
- Estimating Support: Prepare material take-offs and quantity measurements from architectural drawings; assist with cost planning and feasibility budgets.
- Cost Planning & Value Management: Identify cost risks and scope gaps; suggest alternative materials or methods (value management) to keep projects on budget during design development.
- Documentation & Systems: Maintain and update estimating spreadsheets, cost libraries, and pricing databases for labor, materials, and subcontract trades.
- Pre-Construction Support: Compile trade scopes and subcontractor pricing packages; review engineering and consultant documentation for cost implications.
- Reporting: Assist in preparing detailed budget reports and client-facing cost summaries.
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of experience in estimating, quantity surveying, or cost planning.
- Proven experience specifically within the Australian residential construction market.
- Advanced ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, engineering plans, and specifications.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and structured estimating workflows.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining strong communication with a remote team.

Qualifications
- Experience with high-end architectural homes and large renovations (Required).
- Proficiency in PlanSwift or similar quantity take-off software (Highly Regarded).

- Experience with custom residential projects over volume housing (Preferred).
- Experience working remotely with construction teams
