Job Overview

As a Technical SEO Specialist, you’ll be the go-to expert for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving the technical barriers that hinder search performance. You will ensure that clients’ websites are technically sound, fully crawlable, and optimized for both users and search engine bots. This role is perfect for a professional who loves digging into code, improving site speed, and staying ahead of the latest Google algorithm updates. You will translate complex technical concepts into actionable strategies that drive measurable growth.

You will join a collaborative environment where technical experts work hand-in-hand with developers and content strategists to deliver high-impact results for a global client base.

Schedule

  • Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Utah Time (MST), with 1-hour unpaid break (40 hours per week)

Responsibilities

Audits & Diagnostics

  • In-Depth Audits: Conduct comprehensive technical SEO audits to identify crawl issues, index bloat, broken links, 404 errors, and redirect chains.
  • Crawl Management: Optimize XML sitemaps, robots.txt files, and canonical structures to streamline site architecture.
  • Index Control: Deindex unnecessary pages and manage meta tags to ensure clean, high-value indexing.

Performance & Mobile Optimization

  • Core Web Vitals: Improve LCP, FID, and CLS metrics through image optimization, code minification, and caching strategies.
  • Mobile-First: Ensure websites are fully responsive and troubleshoot mobile usability issues flagged in Google Search Console (GSC).
  • Infrastructure: Manage CDN integration and script loading to resolve rendering bottlenecks.

Advanced Implementation

  • Structured Data: Deploy and validate JSON-LD schema (LocalBusiness, FAQ, Review) to enhance SERP features and rich snippets.
  • Link Architecture: Optimize internal linking to improve crawl depth and the flow of "link juice" (page equity) across the site.
  • Collaboration: Partner with developers and content teams to implement fixes, serving as the bridge between technical execution and SEO strategy.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a dedicated technical SEO role (Agency experience is a plus).
  • Strong CMS Knowledge: Proficiency in WordPress, Webflow, and Shopify.
  • Technical Literacy: A solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript basics as they relate to SEO.
  • Tool Mastery: Expert-level use of Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Sitebulb, and Search Atlas.
  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to track KPIs using GA4 and GSC, providing proactive reports to the SEO Director.
  • Communication: Fluent English with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Automotive or Local SEO (Highly Regarded).
  • Google Analytics or Google Search Console certifications (Preferred).
  • Experience with schema markup using JSON-LD (Preferred).
  • Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks like React or Vue (Nice to Have).

This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own reliable computer and high-speed internet connection and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits.
