Job Overview
The Accounting Assistant will work directly with the company accountant to support day-to-day financial operations across multiple restaurant locations. This role requires VPN connectivity to access desktop-based accounting systems and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable handling high-volume transactions in a fast-paced, multi-location environment.
Client Overview
Our client operates a multi-unit restaurant management company overseeing 28 restaurant locations across Ontario, Canada. As the organization continues to grow, they are expanding their remote accounting team to support increasing operational and financial demands.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST (40 Hours per week)

Responsibilities
- Assist the company accountant with daily financial operations across 28 restaurant locations
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and in a timely manner
- Reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts regularly
- Input and maintain financial transactions in QuickBooks Desktop via VPN connection
- Retrieve and compile sales data from third-party delivery platforms (e.g., Uber Eats, DoorDash)
- Organize and analyze financial data using Microsoft Excel and Google Docs
- Access various online platforms to extract and consolidate required sales and financial information
- Support financial reporting and data accuracy across all locations
Requirements
- 2–5 years of proven experience as an Accounting Assistant or in a similar bookkeeping role
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools
- Experience working with QuickBooks Desktop
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as a self-starter with strong initiative
- Strong practical problem-solving skills and sound financial judgment
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and professional home office setup
- Availability to work full-time (40+ hours per week) aligned with Eastern Standard Time
Nice-to-Have Requirements
- Familiarity with restaurant industry accounting practices and multi-unit operations
- Experience retrieving sales data from third-party delivery platforms such as Uber Eats, DoorDash, or similar services
- Knowledge of VPN connectivity and remote desktop systems
- Experience with Google Workspace applications

This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet connection and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits.
