Brief Client Summary:
This role is a mission-critical opportunity to steer the financial health of over 30 small businesses during the high-stakes tax season. You will serve as the technical backbone for a boutique accounting firm, ensuring every ledger is pristine and ready for the March 15th deadline.
Job Overview:
The Mission: Your primary objective is the rapid restoration and maintenance of financial integrity across a diverse portfolio of small business accounts. This is not a standard maintenance role; you are being brought in as a specialist to "clean up" and "catch up" on complex backlogs. You will navigate QuickBooks Online to reconcile accounts, categorize expenses, and resolve discrepancies that have accumulated throughout the year. Your success is measured by your ability to deliver tax-ready books under tight timelines with absolute autonomy, ensuring our clients meet their federal filing obligations without a hitch.
The Profile You are a seasoned financial professional who thrives in the "crunch" of tax season. You don’t need a manual to get started; you possess an intuitive understanding of accounting workflows and can spot an entry error from a mile away. You are disciplined enough to manage your own throughput across multiple client files simultaneously and possess the grit to handle high-volume workloads during peak periods. You take pride in moving a chaotic ledger into a state of perfect balance.
Schedule:
- Mondays to Fridays, flexible during client business hours (US Eastern Time, must accommodate US night shift hours)
Independent Contractor Perks:
- Permanent work from home
- Immediate hiring
Must Have Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional bookkeeping experience, specifically in a multi-client environment.
- Advanced, expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
- Proven track record of performing comprehensive "catch-up" and "clean-up" projects.
- Deep understanding of US accounting principles and tax-ready financial reporting.
- High-speed internet and a secure remote work environment.
Nice-to-Have Requirements:
- QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor Certification.
- Prior experience working within a boutique CPA or accounting firm.
- Familiarity with third-party integration tools (e.g., Dext, Hubdoc, or Bill.com).
Side Note:
- This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet connection, and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits. Professional hourly fees are established based on your performance in the application process.
