Job Overview

Our client, a growing restoration company, is seeking an experienced Estimator to independently manage end-to-end project estimation workflows. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
7:00 AM – 3:00 PM Mountain Standard Time (Calgary time)

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze Docusketch links, project documentation, photos, and related materials to determine accurate project scope
  • Independently create detailed, comprehensive estimates using Xactimate from start to finish
  • Identify all necessary repairs and replacements based on restoration industry standards and best practices
  • Ensure estimates are accurate, complete, and defensible under insurance adjuster review
  • Apply expert knowledge of building materials, labor costs, and local pricing databases within Xactimate
  • Verify measurements, line items, and quantities to maintain high accuracy standards
  • Advise on proper scope development and recommend additions or corrections when necessary
  • Communicate clearly regarding estimate inclusions, exclusions, and assumptions
  • Meet strict deadlines while maintaining quality and attention to detail
  • Take full ownership of the estimation process, ensuring consistency and professionalism
  • Collaborate with internal teams to clarify project requirements when needed
  • Share best practices, workflow improvements, and estimation strategies with team members
  • Continuously review and refine estimating processes to improve efficiency and accuracy

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience creating estimates using Xactimate software
  • Expert-level proficiency in Xactimate & Exact Analysis
  • Proven background in restoration industry estimation (water damage, fire damage, mold remediation, or related fields)
  • Experience interpreting Docusketch files or similar property documentation tools
  • Demonstrated ability to create comprehensive A-to-Z project scopes independently
  • Strong understanding of building materials, construction processes, and restoration methodologies
  • Experience working with insurance claims and insurance adjuster requirements
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and verbal) to effectively communicate with Spanish-speaking crew members and field personnel
  • Strong professional written and verbal communication skills

Nice-to-Have Requirements

  • Xactimate certification or formal training credentials
  • Experience with Canadian restoration standards and insurance processes
  • Familiarity with other estimation software platforms (Symbility, CoreLogic, etc.)
  • Background in construction, contracting, or project management
  • Experience training or mentoring junior estimators
  • Knowledge of building codes and compliance requirements
  • Previous remote work experience with North American clients
  • Associate degree or technical certification in construction management or related field

Side Note

This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet connection and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits. Professional hourly fees are established based on performance during the application process.
