QuickBooks Online Bookkeeper (Canadian Accounting)

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented, tech-savvy Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate isn’t just great with numbers; they are a clear communicator with a "curious mind" who loves solving puzzles within financial data. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring our clients’ books are audit-ready and compliant with Canadian standards.

Core Responsibilities

  • Full-Cycle Bookkeeping: Manage accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Data Management: Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner using various accounting platforms.
  • Communication: Coordinate with team members and clients in fluent English to resolve discrepancies or gather necessary documentation.
  • Time Zone Alignment: Maintain consistent availability during Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours to support our North American operations.

Requirements

  • Bookkeeping Expertise: Solid understanding of accounting principles and full-cycle bookkeeping.
  • Tech-Forward: Highly proficient with modern technology, cloud-based apps, and digital workflows.
  • English Proficiency: Strong written and verbal English communication skills are essential.
  • Adaptability: A proactive learner who is eager to pick up new skills and stay updated on industry software.

Bonus Points (The "Nice-to-Haves")

We will give priority to candidates who possess experience or skills in the following:

  • Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO), Zoho, Caseware, Taxprep, or iFirm.
  • Canadian Context: Prior experience specifically with Canadian bookkeeping (GST/HST, provincial taxes, and Canadian payroll).
  • Curious Mindset: A natural inclination to ask "why" and look for ways to improve existing processes.

  • This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet connection, and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits.
