QuickBooks Bookkeeper

Job Description:

You’ll be the financial backbone that brings order to a thriving investigation services company. This role offers the rare satisfaction of seeing immediate, tangible results from your work as you transform chaotic financial records into clear, organized systems. You’ll work directly with the business owner to establish proper financial controls and reporting that will support continued growth and help optimize profitability. Schedule:

  • 20 hours per week Monday to Friday 10am to 2pm EST (Client Timezone: Eastern Time (New York))

Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and categorize all business transactions in QuickBooks
  • Prepare clean profit and loss statements organized by service line and expense categories
  • Generate monthly balance sheets and cash flow summaries for executive decision-making
  • Organize and separate commingled personal and business expenses to establish clear boundaries
  • Identify potential cost-cutting opportunities and areas for financial optimization
  • Prepare quarterly sales tax filings and ensure compliance with reporting requirements
  • Provide regular financial reports to help determine appropriate owner compensation structure
  • Clean up historical financial records to establish proper baselines for future reporting
  • Support additional administrative tasks as needed to maximize productivity during allocated hours

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in bookkeeping and financial record management
  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks software with hands-on experience
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills for managing high-volume transactions
  • Experience working with commingled business and personal accounts and separating them
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining regular communication
  • Understanding of basic financial statements, reporting, and tax preparation requirements
  • Bonus if you have experience identifying financial inefficiencies and cost-saving opportunities
  • It helps if you’re comfortable working with business owners who prefer direct, frequent communication
