We are currently preparing for a high-stakes platform migration from Square Online to Shopify. This is not a simple "lift and shift"—it is a strategic overhaul aimed at resolving significant technical SEO debt, consolidating brand authority, and integrating a unified POS system for our physical showroom and hospitality space.
The Role
We are seeking a Senior Shopify Technical Lead (or a specialized boutique agency) to act as the primary architect for our digital transformation. The ideal partner possesses a rare balance of high-end design sensibility and deep technical engineering skills. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of the project—from a rigorous initial audit to post-launch optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure & Migration: Execute a flawless migration of product data, customer records, and historical data from Square Online to Shopify.
- SEO Recovery & Preservation: Solve existing technical hurdles including JS-heavy rendering issues, 80% bot traffic interference, and the consolidation of a fragmented blog subdomain back into the primary root domain.
- Hybrid E-commerce Strategy: Develop a seamless UX that allows for direct e-commerce checkout of ~100 curated goods (books, bath, accessories) while maintaining a high-touch "Call for Info" lead generation flow for our configurable luxury furniture.
- Bespoke Design: Customize a premium Shopify theme or build a custom frontend that reflects the client's identity as an elite interior design firm.
- Omnichannel Integration: Configure and deploy Shopify POS to bridge our showroom and coffee/wine bar, ensuring unified inventory and customer data.
- Technical Leadership: Anticipate "day two" problems before they happen, including site speed optimization, structured data implementation, and team training for staff.
Required Qualifications
- Shopify Plus Certification: Proven mastery of the Shopify Plus ecosystem.
- Industry Expertise: A portfolio demonstrating successful projects, preferably within the Interior Design, Luxury Furniture, or High-End Decor sectors.
- Technical SEO Depth: Deep understanding of 301 redirect mapping, metadata migration, and resolving "crawlability" issues.
- Full-Stack Capability: Ability to handle liquid/CSS/JS customization without sacrificing site performance (Core Web Vitals).
- Strategic Mindset: We need a partner who tells us what we need, not just someone who takes orders. You should be current on e-commerce trends and technical best practices.
