Accounting Assistant - BAS Experience Australian Taxation)

Schedule: Flexible scheduling within business hours, 9 to 1pm Queensland, 20hrs per week.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare quarterly Business Activity Statements (BAS) for self-employed clients
  • Handle back-office bookkeeping tasks for truck drivers, miners, and other self-employed professionals
  • Process client files that may require extensive hours of detailed work due to clients being behind on their tax obligations
  • Prepare BAS submissions to be ready for lodging by senior staff
  • Manage time-consuming compliance work to free up senior team members for client-facing activities

Requirements

  • Strong English communication skills
  • Experience with Australian tax law and BAS preparation preferred
  • Previous experience working with Australian companies and tax compliance
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Attention to detail for handling complex client files
  • Flexibility to work within Queensland time zone
