Bilingual Spanish Criminal Legal Assistant

Job Overview

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Criminal Legal Assistant to support the legal team in managing criminal cases. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of criminal law procedures, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. This role involves assisting attorneys with case preparation, client communication, and administrative tasks to ensure smooth and efficient case management.


Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM Georgia Time, with 1 hour unpaid break (40 work hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys in preparing criminal cases, including organizing evidence, exhibits, and case files
  • Draft, proofread, and format legal documents such as motions, subpoenas, discovery requests, and correspondence
  • Conduct legal research and summarize findings to support case strategy
  • Maintain and update case files, court calendars, and deadlines to ensure compliance with legal requirements
  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, court personnel, and other relevant parties in a professional and timely manner
  • File documents with courts, law enforcement agencies, and other institutions as required
  • Track and manage billing, invoices, and administrative records related to criminal cases
  • Assist attorneys during trials, hearings, and depositions, including preparing exhibits and case materials
  • Monitor case progress and provide status updates to attorneys and clients
  • Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive information at all times


Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal, preferably in criminal law (1–2 years of experience)
  • Strong knowledge of criminal law procedures, court rules, and legal terminology
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team under tight deadlines
  • High level of discretion and professionalism when handling confidential information

This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet connection, and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits. Professional hourly fees are established based on your performance in the application process.
