Legal Editor (Quality Assurance)

Job Overview
Our client is seeking a Legal Editor (Quality Assurance) to work closely with the Case Management team, ensuring expert witness reports are clear, well-structured, and court-ready. In this role, you will also collaborate with the Marketing team to create compelling blogs, case studies, and articles that showcase the breadth, expertise, and impact of the cases handled by the firm.
 
Schedule: Flexible during client business hours (AEST) (40 hours per week)

Responsibilities
  • Review expert witness reports to ensure they are polished, professional, and ready for legal submission, with a focus on accuracy, coherence, and responsiveness to lawyer instructions
  • Build strong working relationships with experts and guide them through the report-writing process
  • Strengthen the quality of expert reasoning and written communication through targeted editorial feedback
  • Assist in expert profiling by compiling key details, bullet points, and links to judgments for database maintenance
  • Elevate written communication standards across teams through editorial support, training, and constructive feedback
  • Support operational efficiency by assisting with essential administrative tasks
  • Create insightful blogs, case studies, and content that highlight the diversity and impact of cases handled
  • Contribute to internal and external newsletters, ensuring alignment with company messaging
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to maintain consistent brand messaging across weekly and ad hoc content
  • Conduct legal and value-adding research using resources such as Jade, AustLII, and Mondaq to support expert reports and content initiatives
  • Monitor legal news alerts and propose timely LinkedIn articles or short-form commentary
  • Draft high-quality articles and posts for publication, subject to review and approval
 
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Law, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5 years of editing or proofreading experience, ideally within legal, academic, or technical environments
  • Strong command of English with exceptional writing, editing, and comprehension skills
  • Experience writing or editing legal content (e.g., articles, blogs, case notes using Jade, AustLII, or Mondaq) is highly advantageous
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to build strong relationships with experts and colleagues
  • Strong attention to detail with sound editorial judgment in grammar, syntax, and issue identification
  • Proficiency in MS Office and comfort using digital collaboration tools
  • Legal background preferred but not required; adaptable and willing to take on additional responsibilities as needed
 
Side Note:
This is a permanent work-from-home role under an Independent Contractor arrangement. Candidates must have their own computer and reliable internet connection and are responsible for their own taxes and benefits. Professional hourly fees are established based on performance during the application process.
