Accounts Receivable Specialist

Schedule: 

  • Part-time (20 hours per week); Vancouver business hours preferred 9 AM – 3 PM PST (Flexible)

Client Overview: Join a specialized hydrovac services company that provides essential non-destructive excavation solutions to civil contractors across North America. This niche but growing industry uses high-pressure water technology instead of traditional excavators to safely expose underground utilities. You’ll work directly with the Director of Operations in a business that serves critical infrastructure projects.

Job Overview: You’ll own the accounts receivable follow-up process for a company that keeps North America’s infrastructure projects moving safely. This role puts you at the center of cash flow management, where your communication skills directly impact business health. You’ll work closely with leadership in a supportive environment where your contributions are visible and valued. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a specialized industry while building long-term relationships with civil contractors.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow up on overdue customer accounts with Net-30 payment terms via phone and email
  • Contact customers using company phone systems to discuss outstanding balances and payment arrangements
  • Monitor and track overdue accounts receivable in QuickBooks
  • Maintain detailed records of all customer communications and follow-up activities
  • Communicate account status changes and updates to the Director of Operations and administrative team
  • Identify patterns in payment delays and suggest process improvements
  • Coordinate with the invoicing team to resolve billing discrepancies
  • Build positive relationships with customers while ensuring timely collections

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks for accounts receivable management
  • Experience with accounts receivable, collections, or customer service processes
  • Strong verbal communication skills for professional customer phone interactions
  • Solid skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Bonus if you have experience in construction, civil contracting, or B2B collections
  • It helps if you’re comfortable with CRM systems and have collections experience
