Job Description:
You’ll step into a vital role supporting the financial backbone of an established trades business. This isn’t just data entry – you’ll own the complete payroll and accounts payable process, working directly with the business owner during an important transition. You’ll learn proven systems, take full responsibility for critical operations, and have the opportunity to become an ongoing part of their growing team.
Responsibilities:
- Process weekly payroll by reviewing, approving, and organizing employee timesheets
- Generate CSV files for Tuesday payroll processing and manage payment workflows
- Handle complete accounts payable cycle from invoice receipt to payment scheduling
- Upload and categorize bills in Xero for accurate expense tracking and reporting
- Monitor financial emails and respond to vendor and payment inquiries
- Support general administrative tasks that keep operations running smoothly
- Collaborate with the admin manager during initial training and knowledge transfer
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with established procedures
Requirements:
- 3+ years of hands-on accounting and administrative experience
- Proficiency with Xero accounting software (essential for day-one success)
- Solid experience with payroll processing and accounts payable workflows
- Strong attention to detail for timesheet review and financial data accuracy
- Reliable internet connection and professional home office setup
- Bonus if you’ve worked with international clients or trade/service industries
- It helps if you have experience with Australian business practices
