Schedule:
- Mondays to Fridays, 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, Pacific Time (Los Angeles, CA)
- With 1-hour unpaid break
The Tax Preparer plays a vital role in supporting the firm’s tax operations by managing the administrative aspects of tax return extensions and related filings. This role ensures that all extensions are processed accurately and on time, while maintaining clear communication with clients and internal teams.
This position is ideal for a detail-oriented, organized professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has experience within a CPA or tax-focused setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax return extensions for individual, corporate, partnership, trust, and estate clients
- Track and monitor extension deadlines to ensure timely submissions across all jurisdictions.
- Communicate with clients and internal teams to gather necessary information for extension preparation
- Maintain and update the firm’s tax management systems, tracking logs, and workflow tools.
- Coordinate with tax preparers and managers to ensure all documentation and payments align with compliance requirements
- Assist with processing tax payments, verifying electronic filing acknowledgments, and maintaining accurate records
- Support general tax administrative functions such as e-filing, document management, and correspondence handling during busy seasons
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with firm policies and IRS regulations
Qualifications & Experience:
- Must have: 2+ years Intuit ProConnect experience
- 2+ years of experience in tax administration, processing, or support within a CPA firm or tax department
- Strong understanding of tax filing deadlines, extension procedures, and related compliance requirements
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; able to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Proficiency in tax and workflow software
- High level of professionalism when dealing with high-net-worth clients and sensitive information
- Strong communication skills—both written and verbal
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
